Hey i am a real big instant messanger. I would rather IM than talk on the phone. Yeah i know some people who read this are gonna shake their heads, but anyway i got real problems lol. I am lookin at getting a new phone, so if you guys could shed some light on which plan has the least or free if possible, fees for text messaging. I am also looking at the yahoo messenger mobile thing.

The Sidekick 3 from T-Mobile is probably the best phone for IM and texting. If you go for the sidekick, you automatically get signed up for the Sidekick Unlimited which is $20/month on top of whatever plan you get. It gives you unlimited text messaging, IM's, picture messaging, and real web browsing. I would think that would beat out paying $40/month extra with Cingular and not getting unlimited messages.

if u got cingular then the LG CU500 is great!
it has really good buttons for fast txtin in my opinion...and its got yahoo, icq, and aim for IM. it has been my favorite phone!
u can sign on for free on the IM services, but u gotta pay for the IMs.
cingular charges $20.00 for 3000 txt, im, video, and picture messaging...i got the $40.00 unlimited internet and 3000 txt, pic, video, and im messaging because the CU500 has SUPER fast internet
