I would suggest
Midnight Magic by Avi...
Any books by Avi always have a mysterius twist, and are written for kids... I used to read them when I was little all the time, and even now when I pick one up I can't put it down! Anything from Avi...

Cynthia DeFelice has some great mystery books. She's been writing for years, and my kids (boy and girl) love them, and so did I. They have great moral. Check out her site. She also has great children's books, I love Casey in the Bath Tub.
Enjoy!!

Agatha Christie is always good mysteries if you like murder mysteries. I don't think they are 'adult' content.
