I posted a question earlier and my answers just opened up more questions for myself. I am usually very regular with my cycle. I started on 2/6, ovulated on 2/20, was on antibiotics on 2/19, and had sex on 2/21, I am on birth control and haven't missed any pills. I am due to start my cycle on 3/7. however, I started having cramping, and other symptoms as if I were going to start my period. However, I started bleeding very lightly (spotting) a brownish color yesterday. I read something about implantation bleeding. I took a EPT and it was negative. I'm sure it's too early to tell. Could someone clear up some of my questions. would a blood test tell if I'm pregnant this early?? has anyone else every experienced anything like this? I would be more than happy to have a baby, I just want to know what's going on with my body. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I was always told that a blood test is no different than a pee test. Your right, it does sound like implantation bleeding. Try to take another pregnancy test closer to the day your supposed to start. If it still shows negative, I would call your OB/GYN and see if you cant get in to see him/her. I was on birth control when I got "surprised" with my second pregnancy. I was also going through alot with my thyroid. My chances of getting pregnant at the time were 5%. Good luck with everything :)

It is very possible for you to be pregnant just based on the fact that you were on antibiotics. Antibiotics make "the pill" uneffective. I know several people who have gotten pregnant this way. As a pregnant person myself, I know that I had menstral like cramping early in the month long before my period, and that's how I kinda figured I was pregnant, but as for the bleeding... I'm not sure. For sure, you need to do two things. 1. Stop taking birth control until you find out if you're pregnant. Also stop taking any other medications such as anti-depresants or the sort even antibiotics until you know for sure. 2. Schedule an appt. with your doc ASAP. Blood tests are the most accurate! My stupid OB didn't do a blood test when I went in, she just did a urine sample- it was negative, but low and behold I was pregnant! If she had done the blood test, it would have shown up!

Forget EPT...get First Response. After taking 4 EPT tests last year and getting negative results each time, I took a First Response and got the positive. And I was pregnant during the time I was taking the EPT's. First Response tests are more sensitive. But if you still get a negative, I'd go to the doctor. They'll do the blood test and there's no fooling those.

I know that antibiotics can cause your pills to not work. wait another week and take a second test. Some wont work right untill you are a week or two late.
Also, I had cramps like I was going to start for the first 3 months of my pregnancy. But never bled.

Best time to tell is to wait till after your period should be. It is even better if you wait the entire week you are due for your period then test. Reason being your body needs to build up what is called hcg. That is what makes a pregnancy test come out positive. Also when looking for a test check the back to see what the mlu are on it. If it is 20-25 that is one that will detect the hcg sooner. Doctors office urine tests are 50mlu's. here is a great link to tell you all you need to know about taking a pregnacy test......http://www.peeonastick.com/

i guess the best thing u need to do is to see a doctor, i also experience like that i really want to have a baby so when i did not have a menstration for a month i got to the doctor and they ask me to have pregnancy test but its negative the doctor ask me to have a pelvic ultrasound because of that they found out that i have a policystic ovaries so they ask me to use a yasmin birthcontrol pills to be regular in my period. after i missed to drink a pills for 6 hours i started having a cramp, my breast hurt, i feel hungry but dont want to eat, so i research for that and i read that there a posibility that i can get pregnant if u just missed to drink the pills for even 2 hours, and if your drinking antibiotics the pills became useless too. but as i go to my doctor he said that its just the side effect of the pills.

hmmmmmm ... my gyno told me one time that the research that showed a correlation between antibiotics and decreased efficacy of bcps was very weak and that he didn't believe any type of antibiotic would decrease the efficacy of bcps. however, i think most medical professionals recommend using an extra form of protection when taking certain kinds of antibiotics.
all that being said, i don't think you'd be experiencing any symptoms this early. if you've just started taking the bcps, your body may be adjusting--hence the spotting.
at any rate, if i were you, i'd wait another couple of days and take the test again. i think they're usually accurate beginning about 3-4 days before your scheduled period and it's recommended that you take them first thing in the morning (i guess the hormone is concentrated in your urine first thing in the morning). there's a website called http://www.peeonastick.com that has ratings of hpt's and when they first become accurate.
hope all of this helps!

By the time i finally showed prego with my first on an EPT test i was 18 weeks along!!! I would go to your doc. that is the best way to know then you can get started on prenatals and figure out how far along you are. Even though they are not always right!!!
Good Luck!!!
