What do you think was the true reason for him getting cut. Management called it a "business decision." He was in the final year of his contract. But the man still has a few good years left in him. Everybody needs a solid linebacker nowadays.

He is getting old and has been had some injury issues, and takes a lot of cap space, and was threatening a holdout if they didnt renegotiate his contract. I dont believe the steelers are one of those teams that have a ton of cap space.

Joey Porter didn't really have a good season in 2006 and let's face it, his ego and hot temper really don't fit on the Steelers. He seems to have seen his better days and the money the Steelers will save can be of better use on free agents and in the draft. I don't think the Steelers will miss him as they have let better players leave and they still keep on winning. No great loss!

it was a business reason, he is asking for too much and i dont believe his price will go down. also, now that mike tomlin is coach, the defense is probably going to change. the steelers have a deep linebacking core and the new defensive scheme is not going to require as many linebackers. if u want to get rid of linebackers, why not cut and older player with a higher price tag on him when others can perform just as well.

I think that that is true.it wasbussiness because of the last year of the contract and they figured that since the man is so good he will get huge cash in freee angency next season and they like there younger players and draft position. I love joey cuz i think he is hilaroius and a great motivational player with a lot of energy i am sad to see him go but thats life i hope u guys get a good pick and the bears should get dwanye jarrett

of course it was business. he was due $1 million on march 6, and gonna make $4 million next season. he was also threatening to hold out if they didn't re-do his contract now, and given his huge ego, he would demand more money in his next contract. and yes he does have a few years left, but they can find another good linebacker who is younger for less. also, he is a disruptive presence, and they need great chemistry to make up for their lack of talent

he was asking for to much money, he wanted to redo his contract last year but the steelers dont like to do that two years before the contract is up. now that his contract would have expired a year from now he wanted to try and redo it again but they just decided it was too much money and just cut him loose

In case you didn't notice, he had a pretty crappy season last year. He's also a first class jerk.
