I just got my license in NC. First you need to find a school in your area. Look in the phone book under Real Estate. My course cost 450$ It was twice a week for 6 weeks. Once you pass your final exam you apply to the real estate commision to take a test. That is 30$ then you have to take the state exam which is 66$ prior to that you have to get a background check for every state you have lived in for the last 7 years. If its only NC its about 15$. Once you get your license you have to pay a 50$ privilege tax to the state. Then before you have access to the MLS system you must join the Realtors Association which is around 800$. You will need to get your own photo done make your own business cards and pay for a name plate for the signs etc. All in all you can excpect to put out a few thousand before you even start making money. The school was hard and so was the state exam but its worth it in the long run. Good luck..What part on NC are you in?
