Working in a group has many advantages. But it's a skill that EVERYONE must accquire.
There is a few things that you must watch out for in a group project.
1) Communications (This is very important) Make sure there is a CLEAR communication between you and your groupmates. Make sure they understand your point and you understand theirs. After you make a point, ask them to tell the point back to you to make sure they fully understood.
2) Make sure no one's is prevented from voicing their opinions. There are times when there's just 1 or 2 people in the group who likes to take the show. Make sure that doesn't happen and ensure everyone gets equal opportunity to voice their opinion.
3) Equal work load, make sure no one is assigned too much work or else you'll be scrweed when you find out they didn't finish their task. Split up the work fairly based on each individual's strengths.
4) Communications again!! When tehre are work assigned, make sure they KNOW what they are assigned. And call them from day to day asking their progress and MORE IMPORTANTLY, ask if they are dealing with any trouble from completing the work.
At the beginning of the group, state to them what are you expectations. (you can tell these 4 points to them) If your group can handle all these points, you will have an AWESOME group.
Once all the problems are dealt with, you will quickly see the advantages, such as:
- Work are completely faster since work is being completed concurrently (as opposed to just 1 person working). Good for meeting deadlines.
- Work can be assigned based on individual's strength. There may be things you don't understand, but another person might have extensive knowledge or experience in certain areas.
- More people to throw in ideas. (One of the reasons why yahoo answers work so well, because many people to throw in different ideas)
- Overall, it's a very pleasant working experience, it's very reward when you get all the bits and pieces together and see the work completed in record time! :)

I see no advantages to it at all. There are never enough active participant-type students in a single group to keep conversation flowing; people who don't know each other don't bother participating, and if anyone does say something worth thinking about the whole class doesn't hear it. I loathe working in groups; full class discussions are so much livelier, and waste less time!
As for out of class, it's even worse. I hate having to rely on someone else for part of my grade & completing things by "commitee", instead of doing it the way I think is best. It invariably drags MY grade down while improving theirs - UGH! I suppose it's adventagous for them, but not for me!

In a group you can divide and delegate the work. If you have a good, dependable, responsible group, then the work load can be shared and you may be able to get a lot more done in a shorter period of time than if you were working alone.
On the other hand, working in a group means giving up some of your individuality. If you have a particularly strong ego and find it difficult to compromise, then you may find group work more difficult than it's worth.

I would say that you get more points of view, working time would be shorter, help each other out on things that you don't understand, and get to discuss the question before answering it(as in more likely to get the questions correct)
This is based on a 6 paragraph essay.

Well many advantages...first of all if you don't understand something the others in the group can help you understand it, so you have a support. Second, you can check your answers, if one person does it and compares it with his group members they can know if it's right if they have the same answer. Third, work can be more efficient!...

I dont think there are any. Somebody always ends up pulling the weight of others who sit back and do as little as possible. I prefer to work alone.

you can split up and do separate things in shorter time.
also, you can work as a team and accomplish something you couldn't do without another hand.
