No. It is rare for someone to recover unless it is his/her own decision. The best way to give an alcoholic or addict the willingness to recover is to introduce them to swift and heavy consequences. Throw the person out of the house, arrest, loss of job, etc.
If compelled, an addict will go to rehab, but his intentions are not borne of a desire to get better; his intentions are damage control.
