The person with an IQ of 60?
Or the person with an IQ of 140?

The U.S. is about equality and having the "highly intelligent" people vote will eliminate the fundamental purpose of the U.S.
The U.S. would be more of a republic than a democracy.

I will expand further, based on alot of personal research, the amount people who should be able to vote would be quite lower than .5% of the population. I am even inclined to say .2 %

Now, I find your question delightful and interesting as well as valid. I honestly enjoyed reading it. I would like to suggest a "slight" modification to your question. I will explain it at the end of my answer.

Let me get off topic for a second. Let us think in terms of IP(Intelligence Percentiles)

I am sure most people know what IP is so I will not explain it very much.
To get into mensa, you would require a IP of the top 2% which is about an IQ of 132(on the Stanford-binet test) . This is in the 98th percentile.

For an IQ of 140 you typically are in the 99th percentile, or top 1% of the population.

What is my Point?
Well, I am a member of various IQ societies and such and I interact closely with these "High IQ" individuals. Most of the Mensa members are far from as intelligent as they want you to believe.

These people are quick to argue any point that you have and are the primary source of the "High IQ" stereotypes. What I mean by this is neurosis, other mental problems, aloofness,ect...

These people range with an IQ of about 130 to 155 (maybe 150). I can guarantee that most of them can not contribute much to the betterment of society. (I know a few who can, but typically these group of people can not contribute more than average people can.)

This is why there are some "High IQ Societies" that are 10times more selective than mensa.

My point is that the actually highly intelligent group should have a minimum of 155+ "IQ" points to actually make a difference.

Of course there are some execeptions and there are even people with an average IQ and advanced ethics that could be fully capable to vote.

As I said, that is not what U.S. is about. I also said that I liked your question and would include a modification.

How about instead of I.Q. test being the criteria, having a competency test?

What I mean by compentency test is a test the measures your ability to comprehend issues, politics, government, geography,ect...

To explain it further, create a new test that makes sure that you are able to make intelligent decisions in the development of our country. It should measure you ability to reason in the subjects of politics, economy, social concerns, general law, ect..

I believe those are more relevant factors in regard to our duties as citizen.

I do like your suggestion, what do you think of my modification?

Some scientists that were working on the atomic bomb during world war 2, did not have enough sense to pour piss out of a boot and you think that would solve some of our problems! Let's face it, the IQ of 60 will vote for who he thinks will help him and the IQ of 140 will do the same, if he has time to apply his formulas to the candidates to determine who will help him. If both candidates will help him equally, he will flip a coin.

Hey, I like your idea, I like it a lot.

Why don't we let everybody vote and then multiply it by their IQ divided by 100.

Then, your vote (since yours is probably much higher than 150) would count for 1.5 votes or more. And other votes would only count as 0.6 votes if their IQ is around 60.

Wow, we could even have the voting lines divided by intelligence levels as well. What an awesome way to bring the people together.

IQ is only the ability to take logical idea's and aplly them.

Now if they want to make manditory tests on how the goverment works that would be fine.

No more Clones in both parties.

i'm in basic terms sixteen, yet i think of they could desire to be allowed to vote. because of the fact i've got self assurance in equivalent rights for each individual. For that area approximately females making judgements in line with emotion... i do no longer possibly accept as true with that. i'm a guy and thoughts get in the way of my judgements each and all of the time. So returned to what i became into asserting, sure females could desire to stay with the main stunning to vote.

well... isn't like 60 like mild mental disability...so that's probably not the best idea overall... and a bit of an extreme example...

I know some people with high IQs though that frankly, don't have a clue when it comes to politics, party or any issues... they are geniuses... but they frankly don't care... and so they would make a horrible choice due to that...

Well then the Republicans would win every time, and we wouldn't have to waste money on those that are too lazy to work-welfare! I'm tired of paying for the bums in this country.

IQ tests are a joke. And there is a political party that advocates what you propose. I think they are called the "American Fascist Party" or something to that effect. No, I'm not joking.
