I am not a person who uses dogs for fighting. This is just out of curosity. Can no animal extremists answer the question saying they have a problem with the question.

Well, this isn't very nice, but pit bulls. Please report the dde to the cops if they ever hurt a dog because I'm no "animal activist," but we shouldn't take advantage but this is TOTALLY illegal. =)

Under the dangerous dogs act the law states there are four main breeds that cannot be owned in the UK, these are the dogo argentino, the fila brasiliero, the japanese tosa and the pit bull terrier. These dogs where initially bred, not as fighting dogs, but dogs that had the courage to assist in big game hunts and take on animals such as bears and lions. The genes from other dogs where spliced and diced so that the dogs had every fearless and hunting capability of other large breed dogs. I do hope you have asked this question out of general interest as it is unfair on the breeds that we have in this country to be labelled as monsters simply because of irresponsible dog ownership and ignorance like from the person who breeds akitas and calls pit bulls baby killers. I have worked alongside a breeder of Akitas and these dogs can be just as vicious, in fact any dog has this capability so don't think for one second you have a doting little shih tsu or faithful border collie, what you have is a direct descendant of the wolf and too many people forget this.

Few people know that the Cold War actually ended with a dog fight. Since a nuclear war would have ended in mutual destruction and nuclear winter, Reagan and Gorbachev decided to settle the matter with a dog fight. They each had five years to come up with best dog they could.

When the day of the fight came the Russians brought out a sleek well-muscled fighting dog and the American brought out a ridiculous fat wiener dog.

When the fight started the American dog ate the Russian dog in one bite and ended the Cold War.

Years passed and the two men retired. Finally one day Mikhail called Ron and asked "how on earth did you win that fight? Our best scientists spent five years breeding the toughest dogs we could find. hell we even gave that thing steroids? How did your mutant dachshund beat us?"

Rona waited a minute before finally answering. "Well, we spent the time having out best plastic surgeons trying to make an alligator look like a dachshund."

EDIT:
Depends what the dog is fighting. Certain breeds were bred to fight bulls, others to fight other dogs, others were bred to fight lions. It depends.

Any dog can be mean or sweet. It is a bad stereotype that pitbulls have because yes, they are known to be mean and can be extrememly vicious, but they can also be sweet. We have an English Bulldog, and those were originally bred for fighting, too. He's really fat and too lazy to hurt anything, though.

But like I said, any dog can be strong or a good fighter.

A 30 pound Pitbull will tear up most dogs 3 times its size.

Obviously one of the breeds bred for fighting. Odd question to be curious about.

depends on the dogs in the match. i have akitas and they have whipped up on bully dogs by accident. a pregnant girlie pit got into my yard and no question she didnt do any damage. but i dont fight my dogs for i paid too much them. as for the 250 dollar pitbull everyone is talking about, those are the dogs that eat little kids and dogs. pitbulls are worthless dogs and they should be banned across the US. there are so many breeds of dogs out there that the ignorance people show with pitbulls is rediculous. have you ever heard of a TOSA. they for sure would send a pitbull to their grave.

guard dogs are world wide and trained to attack , that's their job !
i've seen mixed breeds and purebreds make great guard dogs !

if your wanting a name like the dog to fight the bulls in the pit, well, those dogs happen to be the sweetest and kindest and have been bred in past 25 years to become more docile and family oriented.
I LOVE PITBULLS !

Rotweillers & Akitas.

Their sex comes into it too.
For example....Female Rotties will fight to kill whereas males fight to achieve submission.

My male Rotweiller had a 30 sec scrap with a female Akita and suffered a couple of deep wounds....yet typically, totally unphased by it! (I dread to think about the consequences if it had been my female Rottie)

I am definitely NOT a extremest but steer clear of pit bulldogs they are extremely dangerous animals to my certain knowledge. I have bred, raised and trained dogs for over forty years and know my business well. I have now warned you about them.
