He was on "Paul Merton's Life of Comedy" as a Bingo Caller (1 episode, 1995).
When the world's first ATM opened at Barclays Bank in north London's Enfield district 27 June 1967, Varney became the very first person to use the machine. ha ha

Reg is still alive he was born on the 11th July 1916 he was 90 last year

Michael Robbins who played Arthur died in 1992
Anna Karen who played Olive From time to time she is employed by Transport for London as a 'mystery traveller' conducting anonymous surveys on buses regarding cleanliness and the quality of driving.She currently lives in Essex with her husband, comedian Terry Duggan.

He died some years ago of a heart attack. If I remember correctly he was taken ill whilst recording this show. He was a talented actor and very underrated.
ooOps sorry Reg is alive and kicking I see. Just read a brief resume of his life and career, seemingly he worked very hard to reach the pinnacle of his career 'On the Buses'.
Hopefully he will enjoy a few more years yet.
