No present is expected but giving them a nice framed photo of them with the baby would be a nice thank you gift.

It would be a nice gesture. I realize in today's world, being a Godparent doesn't mean what it use to. In the old days, a Godparent's role was to be somewhat responsible for the religious upbringing of the child. It's more of just a ceremonial thing now days. The gift could be something like a gift card for a favorite restaurant, or a nice picture frame to hold the baby's christening picture...

Well i`m to be my neices godmother and i don`t expect a gift but i do expect to buy my niece one though, think it`s just what you do.But if you do feel you want to then something small like you know the sort of thing you get in card shops like the plague thingys thats for like godmother, granny, special mum and it`s got like a wee verse on it,i think something like that would be nice.

No, normally the God Parents give something of religious value to the god child,my son`s God Parents gave him a gold chain with a cross. You are not obligated to give them anything. But, it would be nice of you to give the parish a small cash donation. I did. I just felt it was decent to give a little money for the priest`s time.

I don't think that this is necessary. Why don't you celebrate by taking them out to lunch or dinner. Or later you can give them a picture of the occasion in a frame but I don't think you need to buy a gift.
