My friend lived (and worked) in Florida, then moved to Virginia where he became employed and earned money there as well.

He's coming back to Florida on vacation and plans to do his taxes while here in Florida.

Can he kill 2 birds with 1 stone and do his Virginia taxes here in Florida as well? Or does he have to do the taxes separately in each state?

He plans to do it in H&R Block but isn't sure if a tax preparer can prepare taxes for moneys earned in another state.

You can prepare state income taxes in any state. I would file both VA and FL tax returns. If VA is his home state, then VA will tax him on all income earned (regardless of state) while he called VA home. FL will do the same thing.

Florida does not have a personal income tax so he does not have to file a Florida tax return.

He will need to file a Federal and VA tax returns. He can have his tax returns prepared anywhere. H&R Block are not always competent tax preparers. Tell your friend to make sure that they dont report his Florida wages on his VA tax return. He is only subject to tax on his VA wages. Therefore he should only report his VA wages on the VA tax return.

Of course both jobs get reported on the Federal tax return.

Yes, a tax preparer can do taxes for more than one state.
