I have the option of a water birth at the midwife unit I am going to for my first baby. I like the idea of warm water but what is it like in reality to give birth in water? Don't you get cold and wrinkley? How does the care provider see what is going on?! Any experience of this helpful as I have to state if this is something I would like before going into labour.

No, but I am sure it would be a wonderful experience....

If I had the option, I'd do it....
But I don't, I actually think I'm gonna be scheduled for c-section #2.

I actually went to a midwife just for this reason to have a water birth but today I asked her about it and I think I decided against it. She said that you do have to do a blood test if you want to have a water birth to test for somethings. You cannot have any pain meds at all if you decide to have a water birth which I don't really like. I want to have the option. She said that she recommends laboring in the tub but not actually giving birth in the tub. I thought that sounded reasonable. Sorry I am not of too much help since I have not had one but I was glad to find out these things to help with my decision, hope it helps some.
