I was told it is normal for the preg. hormone (HCG) to double in 48 hours but mine tripled. Does anyone have any experience with this. I took the blood test the same time of day exactly 48 hours apart. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Higher hCG levels usually indicate miscalculated dates, multiple pregnancy or molar pregnancy.
I'm sure that your doctor will be monitoring it and have you in to check your levels until they know for sure. Or, he/she may send you for a trans-vaginal ultrasound.

It means you have a high HCG level. It may be nothing. My levels were always very high, suspected twins but nope, just one healthy baby. I did get terrible morning sickness. It could be a sign of multiples or just a sign that things are going as they should. I had this happen to me in two different pregnancies (of my four full term ones- I lost one baby). My dates were actually a little off but not that I was further along, I was actually not as far along as they though!

sounds like twins...i found this website about the hcg levels tripling and doubling within 48 hours.and the website also said that this is a sign of .a normal pregnancy..take a look..its definitely got your answer...good luck and congrats..

If it tripled and you havent had an ultrasound done yet now would be the time to ask for one.. It is very possible that you are having twins, and that is why it tripled that fast... Best of Luck

Yeah I heard it was normal for it to double as well...but triple? Maybe you're just producing more of the hormone...or maybe you're having twins! Did you have an ultrasound yet? Congrats on your pregnancy!

you may be pregnant with twins. HCG will rise higher and faster with twins. otherwise i do not know.
