insrutable: 1.incapable of being investigated, analyzed, or scrutinized; impenetrable. 2.not easily understood; MYSTERIOUS; unfathomable: an inscrutable smile.

implacable: not to be appeased, mollified, or pacified;

1, 3, and 4 are opposites, so cannot be the answer b/c implacable and relentless are not opposites, they mean similiar things.

I am not 100% sure, but I would go for insrutable to mysterious.

incumbent is the opposite to optiona;, it means obligatory or unoptional

hope this helps

This one is difficult, but I'll try. Implacable means that to never be satisfied and relentless means to never give up. Both have an "enemy" type connotation. Both have a sense of permanence, unyielding, unending. They are almost synonyms. Insolent means rude and cheerful means to have good spirits. I think we can rule this one out.
Inscrutable means difficult to fathom and mysterious means to have an obscure nature. I think this one is the answer because the words are close synonyms though they don't have the "permanence" idea suggested by the original analogy.
Attentive means to give thoughtful observance and patient means several things, none of which are close synonyms.
Desolate and populous are opposites, though they do have the "permanence" idea.
I can't think of a relationship between incumbent and optional and then back to implacable and relentless.

I think the answer is inscrutable to mysterious.
