It's all to do with History, remember that America used to be part of the Empire and rightfully America won its independance, and although there were a few years of hard feelings after that it soon settled down and we started trading again, the thing is we are them and they are us we are blood brothers at the end of the day, we speak the same have the same types of democracy sort of the same laws and no matter what we stick together through thick and thin.
Also Iraq is a joint thing we do not blame America for pulling us in we are in a war against terror and at the moment iraq is the battlefield or would you rather the battlefield be Bradford in the UK or Atlantic City in USA I say this if all the terrorists die due to Allied presence in Iraq then we were right to go in on top of the fact we got shot of Sadam also when the real crap hits the fan with Iran we are ready to kick ***

Why would you want Britain and America to grow apart, we have so much in common, similar interests, cultures, and we speak the same language. I love the people of both countries. The French are dead to me, both countries should have closer ties with India. Perhaps China, if they ever become Democratic, and tone down the human rights violations that the world loves to ignore, but they are all over Abu Ghraib and Guantanomo. Either way, our allaince has been mutually benificial for most of the last century, of course a break would hurt Britain a hell of a lot worse than the U.S.

So its a reasonably close alliance. even however different international locations are additionally armed forces powers there is not any longer as good an alliance between the different armed forces powers.

They bailed us out in two world wars. The UK will always be attached to the USA and vice versa. They are our cousins. I don't always agree with all that we both do but we should show solidarity against the fanatics out there. I have been all around the globe and despite foreign policy i can tell you now there is an agenda against the west despite this. Don't forget 9/11 and those poor people who died from all races and creeds. I will never forget the people jumping from those buildings. I understand that war is indescriminate and that civilians die on both sides but we can not let democracy fail. It is what defines us and keeps anarchy at bay. We may not like Americans at times and they may not like us but we have a bond that i think is worth fighting for.

Two world wars and a common language. Although we are also allies with France and Germany too, and cooperate with them on defence matters a lot more than people realise.

up to now it has been for historical reasons, as well as the language and cultural similarities ... for example we have had this so -called 'special relationship' since World War II amd this myth seems to have endured despite blips like Suez and so on...
I think in the longer term Britain will have to develop closer ties with our European neighbours. But I don't think we'll be closer to countries like India or China than we are with the US ...

Despite the historical reasons, the more recent reasons involve the problems arising with the EU. Believe me, I had high hopes for the EU, but as more time goes on and their incompetence is exposed it's no wonder my good friends the Brits would like to distance themselves from it.

the histories tie together. it's more of a brotherhood. we have our highs and lows, but at the end of the day they've always got each others' backs. They won't grow aapart simply because of one administration and a faulty war. thats absurd. britain won't become allies with china because it is a communist state.
