If it were two hours later, it would be half as long until midnight as it would be if it were an hour later. What time is it now?

The difference btwn the two times (1 hour later and two hours later) is one hour.
the later time is twice as close to 12 PM, meaning that there is the same amount of time between it and midnight and it and the first time.(one hour)
this eans that the first time is two hours before midnight, 10PM, and since that time is an hour from now, it must now be 9:00PM

thats basically true all the time if you forget the half as long. but the answer is 9pm.

or if you go mathematically. it would be midnight because 1 o'clock times 12 equals 12 whereas 2 o'clock times 6 equals twelve. half the time. you get it?

how is this a trick question?
