Pittsburgh intended on cutting Porter and resigning him for less money. However, Joey Porter has that kind of attitude that won't let this happen, so I don't expect him to be in a Steelers jersey next year.
Don't worry. There are plenty of LBs in the upcoming draft and in the FA pool.

enable's settle for it. Joey Porter has no longer been an similar because he became shot interior the leg a pair years in the past. He also has a large ego and his warm mood has also been an subject. even notwithstanding he turned right into a favourite of coach Cowher at the same time as he became there, he truly had no backers on the hot preparation crew. He truly is in simple terms no longer that confusing to change because the Steelers have enable reliable gamers walk earlier and in simple terms save on prevailing. No tremendous loss!

Joey Porter had a bad year in 2006 and let's face it, he has a huge ego and bad temperment. For what he was owed and his level of play lately, the money the Steelers will save can be better spent on other free agents and on draft picks. He will not be hard to replace and the team has depth at LB. Will not be missed!

Porter was an outspoken player who brought negative attention to the Steelers. His willingness to start a fight with any player in the league brought unwanted attention to the Steelers organization. Although he is a talented player, the steelers new head coach was sick of his antics.

Here is a player who has a few years left in him. This season he still proved he can play. Some team that needs linebacking help (see Panthers) will pay him for extra help in that area. Yes he is a little nutsy but to be a linebacker in the NFL you have to be ( see Butkis, L. Taylor, and Ted Hendricks) so with a new coach they decided to rid themselves of someone who might be a distraction.

Salary cap and decline in performance. Plus, I think the Steelers might draft that stud linebacker from Penn State, Paul Poz-something.

it doesnt make sense!!hes our emotional leader.how do the steelers resign aaron smith for 4 years and not sign porter.how does a team 2 years removed from the superbowl have so much change,it doesnt make sense.tomlin better know what hes doing or he will be hated really quick in pittsburgh.porter was a good cover guy ,could blitz qb and was the heart of the defense, they should of signed him back in my opinion.i guess they needed the money for polamalu and rothlisberger.

You answered you own question. Porter isn't worth that much anymore. Some fool team will give him his money and he will not produce anywhere near that level. Mark my words.
We'll miss you, Peezy!!
Go Steelers!!!!!!!
