Initially it will add to the cost of the product but as the volumes go up, will help in decreasing the cost. Also advertising will help in decreasing the cost of a competitor's product price and will thus help the customer.

Well predatory pricing is competition...Who can be lower? And then there are patents and stuff that keeps competitors from copying you...Then you can charge your own price...But, you cant go lower then what it costs you...so either you find cheaper advertising or you raise the price of your product...if you do that..then...you lose alot of business to other companies that sell the same quality product that you sell..but for less...
