James King Aurness
May 26, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Marshal Matt Dillon. (I've always felt that Matt and James were one in the same....honorable/kind/man of few words/gorgeous.)
"Gunsmoke"
Peter Graves
Some say 6'6",some say 6'7" He was injured in WWII, on the beach at Anzio. "He was reported to have been first off his landing craft at the landing beaches at Anzio because of his height: if the water was too deep for him , it would certainly be too deep for the rest of the soldiers." He was jit in the leg and his leg was never set correctly. He had a noticeable limp...not a problem for him when he played "The Thing!," his most notable movie role.
After "Gunsmoke" ended, he was in , "McLain's Law." I have a theory as to the title of this show. His mentor,John Wayne, once portrayed a character in a movie..."Big Jim McLaine"....thus, the title.
I have been his most devoted fan since 1955, when "Gunsmoke" first came on the air....I was 6 years old. I wrote a song for him back then, to the tune of "Five Foot Two." When I began playing guitar, I wrote another song for him, this time I also wrote the tune....it was when he had returned to tv, as McLain....
It's called, "Welcome Home Jamie, You Still Look Good To Me."
When I got my computer and was learning to use it, about a year ago, the first thing I did was try to find sites on him. I found one that was having a contest. In 300 words or less, write anything about him. Well, I wrote about "Matt's Love Story." The ALL-TIME BEST episode from this show. He had a love affair with a woman who nursed him back to health...of course, he had amnesia. He was adorable!!!!....Frisky,sexy and precious. The crux of my essay was that if I had been the actress whom he had KISSED and retired to the bedroom with, I'd still be in ICU on heart monitors. The winner received a call from him. Alas, I did not win. I did, however, get to vent my feelings....just like I'm doing now. Thank you.
Sunshine will love James Arness♥ always.
