(72 wins & 10 losses, that year he got every mvp possible, all-star, season, & finals)
He was voted ESPN Best Athlete In History
He was Sports Illustrated Sportmans of the Year
(only 5 nba players could say they've achieved that award, Bill Russell, Kareem, MJ, Tim Duncan, & Dwyane Wade, ....and no, no Magic, Bird, Shaq, or Kobe could say they've achieved it.)

He also was in a era that the nba allowed a team defense that was applied to MJ only, the defense was called, The Jordan Rules! That defense allowed teams to trip, close line, tackle, bridge, and smack MJ on his head. Teams done that to try to slow MJ down, but despite that, MJ couldn't be stopped and still became a legend.
& etc, etc, etc, ...I could go on forever about what he done.
Anyways, he's the greatest because he has the stats to back up his titles. There isn't anyone in the history of the nba that won they way MJ did.
p.s. google up The Jordan Rules....and you'll learn what he had to go threw!
Hey Kings Fan,
don't listen to that person below me. He/She is a MJ hater. He/She tries to do whatever possible by destroying his legacy. Those teams did give MJ a beating in his era......Why would they beat Pippen ( the sidekick who's less of a threat ) & not MJ ( the team leader & the dominate scorer )? That doesn't makes any sense does it?
.....THE JORDAN RULES...notice it says, " they used to PHYSICALLY CHALLENGE HIM". Tweey, this is not football! You can't physically challenge someone on defense in basketball. It didn't go into what exacty they did, but they PHYSICALLY challenged him..... I watched it, they use to tackle, trip, & smack MJ on his head...Heck, back then those rivals used to cost fist fights because those teams used to play him so dirty!

Re: "The Jordan Rules!"
Michael was never tripped, clotheslined, tackled or smacked on his head.
Where's the video of that EVER happening?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jordan_Rules
Wikipedia article makes no mention of tripping, clotheslining, tackling or smacking MJ on his head. When did all these things happen?
They did these things to Pippen, but never to Jordan.
