Now i am fine with it now...I understand...But when someone asks you about what happened in your marriage...they automatically ASSUME that you are divorced...so you just briefly touch on it...you don't want to RE-live it...if you just say.."he was in a fatal accident years ago..."...WOULD YOU ASK THEM ANYTHING ELSE??? or would you just move on...to another topic????

move on to another topic...It's completely rude to ask questions about someone else's buissness.

After that statement then you are getting to personal and out of order! Some people are just nosey and want something to go tell someone else. When people ask me something I just tell them I don't want to talk about it especially if that person is not a friend and or family member and even then you have to be careful. With that being said to answer your question then no I would not ask anything else as a matter of fact I would not conversate with the person at all!

I totally get it, have a situation similar. I just touch on it and move on. As a polite person, the person you're talking to should change the subject. If they persist, I'd tell them it wasn't something I enjoy reliving. Hang in there.

Maybe when you tell them it was a tragic accident you should add the fact that you don't want to discuss it because you have never fully gotten over your love for the person and you want to leave it at that

It's not healthy to just move on to another topic. I would be as sincere as possible but without prying to much.

People are curious and stupid and sometimes curiously and stupidly insensitive.

"I'm a widow" make it pretty clear, without going into detail.
