download the software and run it..
it will tell you which kind of vista your monitor or hardware it would support.

You dont need a certified Vista monitor, but you do need to be certified insane to get Vista. Its the worst, most incompatable, most insecure, most expensive and most frustrating Windows yet.

I haven't seen where Vista requires it but if you intend to add a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD drive to your setup, you will need to ensure you have a HDMI compliant monitor for your PC or the resolution will be scaled down.
