Is it because you weren't read to as a child?
Why do you think?

captsnuf, you will not believe the amount of people who i've met who don't read.On two seperate occasions i have been made fun of for reading!
I've got a feeling it's because they weren't read Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl ,Dr Seuss (especially fox in socks)etc... when they were kids. Poor them huh.

When I was young, many of my schoolmates did not like to read, and thought I was odd because I read all the time. I think it was because few of them were read to when they were little. My children were read to every night and they have all grown up loving to read. It has been a great advantage for them in their lives.
The gift of reading is one of the best things that can be given. It allows the individual the opportunity to explore far away places and unimagined things. It is true freedom.

i don't know anyone who doesn't like to read, even my very young grandchildren like to read, ofcourse they are read to...makes gift buying fairly easy...Border's for all my gifting needs, and none of those expensive and silly computer games that fry their little brains. Books are fairly inexpensive, and easily wrapped (square edges, y'know)

I can't imagine life without books. Mine goes everywhere with me, in fact I think I'll sign off here now, and curl up in bed with my latest one. Nite nite....
