First, distribute the 4, so it is
a +12x +4+2.
Then put the 4 and 2 together.
a + 12x +6

That's all you need to do on this one.

first you're going to pull out the section with the parenthesis

4(3x+1)

You're going to distribute (by multiplication) the 4 to the numbers in the parenthesis, giving you

12x+4

Then just plug this is

a+12x+4+2

which simplifies to

a+12x+6

you have to multiply the stuff in the brackets by the 4.

a+12x+4+2 or a+12x+6

Well to do the parenthesis you distribute the 4. so it would be
a+12x+4+2 Theres two variables? hmm I can come up with
