As long as you are healthly and eating all the right foods (including lots of fruit and veggies, etc) there shouldn't be any reason to worry, back in the old days there was no such thing and they all turned out alright!
Tell your Doc if your worried, there are lots of tests they can do these days to find out if anything is wrong with baby.
But to be honest...you should of put your 'dislikes' on hold for the sake of your baby! We all have to sacrifice and that is a small price to pay.
Good Luck!

Its not harmful but it has a lot of added vitamins and minerals that you need when you pregnant because you probably cant get the right amount that your body needs. Folic Acid is a mjor role in prenatal pills and helps promote a healthy baby with a lesser possibilities of deformaties of some sort. If you plan on getting pregnant its a good idea to take folic acid then so that later it will help your baby be healthy. Its a good idea to take them because sometimes you dont enough vitamins or minerals on food and fluids only when you're pregnant.

It is true that plenty of babies were born before prenatal vitamins, however prenatal vitamins are specifically designed to give your body the needed nutrients to help the baby develop. Folic Acid (one of the many elements of a prenatal vitamin) is useful in preventing Spina Bifida, a disorder in which a portion of the spinal cord is exposed at birth. Individuals with Spina Bifida may be paralyzed or suffer from other traumatic disorders.
Although our parents may have not taken these vitamins, research shows that the rate of healthy pregnancies have risen since the major push for vitamin use.
Development is crucial and I strongly encourage you to stay on your vitamins. It is important that you give your baby the best chance possible.
Good Luck! I hope this child becomes a joy in your life!!

I just take them because I throw up a lot. So it's a sure thing that my baby is getting some nutrients.
Yeah that's true, my mom never took prenatals when she was pregnant with me, and I'm well established accountant. So I guess nothing wrong can do it. Also, in the olden days.. they never did use prenatal vitamins if you think about it.

Yes that is not a good thing to do.I have four kids. I did not take my prenatal pills with my second and i had him almost two months early. It gives you all the nutrients that your body needs. It also helps the baby to grow properly, and gives him all the nutrients that your not getting in your body.

Yea, this folic acid helps build muscle tissue and brain matter. It is important that you get enough of this, however if you cannot take pills then you need to research high in folic acid foods and see about getting enough of those into your diet,
We do have great information regarding why you should be taking your prenatals on our message center, it is free to join and you must register to vote ..we locked it up from lurkers for privacy of our members

Yes it could be harmful to your baby. The reason why they want you to take the vitamins is because of the folic acid in them. It helps prevent birth defects of the brain and spinal cord when taken very early in pregnancy. So since you are JUST starting to take them at 5 months...yes your baby could have been harmed. Take them from now on. And tell your doctor that you have just started to take them.

Your baby will be fine...just EAT HEALTHY!
Let me put it this way: Our ancestors didn't HAVE prenatal vitamins...healthy babies were born.
