The round ligament supports the uterus and stretches during pregnancy. It connects the front portion of the uterus to the groin. These ligaments contract and relax like muscles, but much more slowly. Any movement (including going from a sitting position to standing position quickly, laughing, or coughing) that stretches these ligaments, by making the ligaments contract quickly, can cause a woman to experience pain. Round ligament pain should only last for a few seconds.

Well, I'm sure you could Google it. But here's what it felt like to me: like my bottom was going to drop out! Every step I took was painful.

Wow, thanks for reminding me of that. I keep thinking I want another baby, but MAN was I miserable with that round ligament pain when I was pregnant! I think I'll pass.....

its like a dull pain that is on the lower right side of your abdomen..you usually get it about 15 weeks..and can last for about a week..its uncomfortable to sit or even walk sometimes...and all it is ..is your uterus pulling to one side..i talked to my ob about it b.c i had it at 13 weeks...so they think im about two weeks ahead than them going off my lmp...take some tylenol if the pain is too much...but i wouldnt worry unless you are bleeding the the pain is excruiating...good luck and congrats..
