Ok so here's what's going on. There's this girl who's been one of my best and closest friends for quite a while. Well on Tuesday in our English class, we were all working with a partner and the guy that my friend likes sat down next to me. (I do not like this guy anymore than a friend). So me and my partner were writing things down, and he looked over to see what I was writing. Then his partners told him to pay attention to the group and not to me. Then in our next class, my friend didn't talk to me. Then later on that night I was talking to her online and I asked her why she was ignoring me and she kept making excuses like "I was tired......you were too far away...." and I could tell that she was mad at me. Then this morning, everything was fine, we were talking and laughing like normal. Then in our math class, she pointed out how it seemed like I liked the guy she likes. I told her that I would never like him even if she didn't. Well now she's not talking to me. What's going on?

And I know for sure that she's mad because she thinks the guy that she likes might like me. What can I do to get her to forgive me?

Your friend is hurt because she likes him and she can sense that he likes you, so that causes her to redirect her hurt into anger toward you... it is a reaction.

Anger is a much more comfortable emotion than hurt feelings. Even though you haven't done anything, you are still the cause of the pain because him liking you instead of her is like saying to her, "your friend is worthy, and you are not." So, you become a representative of her unworthiness. When someone makes us feel unworthy (worth less than them), we tend to get angry at them.

Stay detached and don't be mad at your friend... she is having an emotional response. If you can stay distant from the guy, it will help her to get over her need to blame you.

If she can't get over it, then she is going to have problems because she will be trading the truth for unhealthy coping skills.

its not your fault! shes just jealous and that's understandable. just have a talk with her and burn it into her brain that you dont like him and theres nothing to worry about, or you could try to hook them up so she cant be mad at you because theyre going out

She doesn't need to forgive you for anything..!! You didn't do anything wrong!! She needs just some time and space to get over her own issues.
