I was in the International Baccalaureate Program in high school and even though I found it tough during my years, now I'm proud that I participated in that program and took the challenging courses. If your high school offers the IB program, I highly recommend that you participate in it. If not, there are always the AP classes. And if those don't work out, then regular classes are the way to go. In any of those cases, choosing your classes, attaining enough, if not more, credits, and excelling is they key in high school.

During my four high school years, I took: Earth Science, French (3 yrs), Physics (2 yrs), Biology (2 yrs), Psychology, English (4 yrs), Math (4 yrs), World History, American History, Theory of Knowledge (a philosophy class), Physical Education, Debate, Economics, Government, and Chemistry.

Out of all those classes, the only classes I would not want to re-take is Physics. And that's not because I don't like the subject or that I fail to understand it .. It's just that the teacher was really poor at teaching it. Instead of learning about Physics, we watched videos of cute animals, pictures of his vacations, and other nonsensical, unrelated stuff. Now, you may be thinking, "Wow! What is she complaining about? Sounds like an easy class!" Well, it wasn't because his tests were super hard and the books don't help much unless you have a teacher to translate all those formulas and theories into English for you.

Anyways, take care! Good luck and lemme know if you have any other questions

I'm in the IB MYP programme and in grade 11 will be in the "real" IB. It, on the whole, is very difficult, has a large work load, and, unlike AP classes, focuses more on short & long response instead of mult. choice. Colleges in America really are ignorant as to the difficulty the IB administers and would even prefer AP classes instead despite their facileness. Also, you have to do a large amount of community service hours (75 grade 9&10, 150 grade 11&12) for the program among other requisites. The program encourages you to think outside the box, and prepares you excellently for later in life. From the seniors this year, they are going to schools like Columbia, Northwestern, U Chicago, and a myriad of other top 25 ranked schools in the nation.
