We cease to live.
It could be that as we die all our brain neurons begin to fire rapidly, creating a kind of mental fireworks display, including the most amazing rush of endorphins. This, all together creates a feeling of supreme joy and pleasure.
Since this (may be) the last thing you experience - it appears to last for eternity. I mean, you can't feel "nothingness" once you stop being able to feel. Therefore, the last thing you feel will be the thing you "think" you're feeling "forever".
Could the idea of heaven come from this? Clearly, if you experience this while still alive, then at least someone has been able to come back (from this glorious brink) and described it. And they have!
Just as clearly, people who are REALLY dead don't come back - but once perception ends, even if they could come back they'd have nothing to describe - beyond those last apparent sensations.

Death in the Bible is likened to a deep sleep. Where we can no longer see, hear, speak, or work. We return to the dust of the ground. Many people think that we go to a fiery hell, but the Bible shows we don't. For the wages of sin are death. So when we die, we pay off our sins with our life, why then do we need to suffer forever in torment? Satan wants people to believe this so they will think that God is cruel. But this is all untrue. Jehovah God is sadden by death. He promises that some day he will resurrect our dead loved ones back to life. The remembrance of them will not be forgotten by Jehovah God.
I for one believe that I will some day see my dead loved ones again, but I too must prove myself worthy of this. By doing God's will now. These scriptures are what can help you to know what happens to us when we die.

I believe we are spiritual creatures having an earthly experience.
No one really knows what it is like on the other side. I did personally have a near death experience and It was amazing.
I was bleeding to death. When I got to the ER my blood pressure was 30/zero.....basically dead. First I lost my ability to hear, then I had no pain, then my vision went to black and white. That is when I entered the white light. It was the most amazing place of peace and comfort that I have ever been. I lost all human fear & anxiety. It was peace way beyond anything ever imagined. I was moving fasts through the brillent white light.I thought to myself....wow this is the day I die, I really didn't think I would be this young when I die. But, it is ok, I have had a good life, I have loved and been loved. I acomplished my goals & then some. Then in my minds eye I saw the face of my oldest grandaughter, then her brother, then I saw the face of my youngest grandaughter (her mom, my daughter, was a single mom at the time & I was like the other parent) When I saw the youngest grandchild's face I hesitated about dying for a brief moment. That is when I heard the doctor calling my name, asking me to open my eyes. He kept saying......come back to us. Come back. I reluctantly opened my eyes not really wanting to leave the white light. But, I opened my eyes & suddenly I was in pain. There was blood all over the place. I was scared. I closed my eyes agin hoping to find the peace of that white light. I didn't want to die, I just wanted that white light. But, the white light was gone. there was just blackness.
This proved to me that death will be peaceful and comforting. I don't understand what is beyond that white light, but I do believe in God and his promise of life everafter. What that is can't be comprehended by humans.

I don't know exactly what happens after we die, but I know that it is not the end. Not because of faith or anything like that but because of an experience I had. I was laying down on my bed for hours bored out of my mind just staring at the ceiling. I started to feel as I was floating towards the ceiling, I got closer and closer. As I started to get higher and higher I heard a scream for help from the room next to me that sounded exactly like my mothers voice. I turned and looked down at my self laying on the bed, then I snapped back into my body and ran in to check on her and she was asleep. I asked her what was wrong and she didnt know what I was talking about. I figured she was screaming in her dream and I heard it. That experience showed me that I was not my body. Our bodys are only shells and transport devices for us to use to experience this physical reality. You are not your body. I know that nothing I have said is going to prove anything to anyone and that is they way it is supposed to be. I am sure people will claim that my experience was some manifestion of my brain and thats fine, but considering I saw my body laying down on my bed what brain was I using? We are ment to discover things for our selves, so dont put to much energy into other peoples advice, even mine. Just keep an open mind, open to what ever experiences that may come to you. Try not to judge things as this or that, just accpet them for what they are, experiences. Eventually you will come to your own answers.

when i was little i drowned and was legally dead for two minutes
they brought me back with defibrillators
that makes me a zombie just like Jesus

When you die you loose all consciousness. Time ceases to exist. You know not and care not. Oblivion.
Life after death?, God forbid!

It's a mystery. We simply do not know. Some religions will hang on a book or so-called "Word of God" but the fact is there is no one that actually knows.

Nothing. We are dead. There is no evidence of any kind to the contrary. So called after-life experiences are dreams.
