I am 15 weeks pregnant and I feel something weird moving about 5 inches below my belly button. It feels like something "swimming" around, like a goldfish in my lower belly. I felt it for 5 minutes then it went away and came back 20 minutes later.

I know for sure it's not gas because it feels weird like I can't describe. I ate about a while ago and I don't think it's my lunch, but then again I don't know!

What do you think? How do I know if it's my baby? I don't have a lot of fat on my stomach, could that be why I feel my baby early?

I didn't feel anything until much later-about 22 weeks, but i had some belly fat already. But the sensation that you described, you know like swimming, is exactly what i felt @ first. It actually felt like there was a little goldfish in there, and yeah, it was really wierd @ first.

At 15 wks this would be quickening. It is the baby moving however it is NOT the baby kicking at you just yet, those you will feel with definate pain --- ha ha, most times --- but congrats on your 15 wks.

Babies will move around a bit after you've eaten. One way I could tell was by pressing my hand lightly on my belly over where I was feeling the movement. You can feel it in your hand if it's your baby (and I'm pretty sure from what you've described that it is.)

Congratulations! It's a pretty awesome feeling, isn't it?

Because you are a more slender person you will feel more of you babys movements, I felt a feeling like butterflies in my tummy at 16 wks so congrats on feeling your lil ones first movements.
Later on in the pregnancy say 20 wks onward lay flat on your back and relax, guaranteed you will feel more movement, hence when you to bed at night the lil one starts moving each time. enjoy this time it so special and congratulations. A great idea is to take photo of your beely side on each week of pregnancy, you will be AMAZED at it when you look back!

yes it sounds like whats called "quickening" which is what you first feel when you start to feel your baby moving.
Congrats!!!
it will feel like a little fluttering sort of sensation. and it does feel very weird at first! and yes people who are slimmer apparantly can feel their babies move sooner than people who are overweight. (i read this somewhere so therfore don't know how true it actually is)
i first felt my baby around 15 weeks, but its was over so quickly every time it happened and was such a gentle feeling i wasnt often sure i was feeling it.

They say the first movements you feel will feel like butterflies in your stomach. All women will start to feel the baby at different times. You are probably far enough along to start feeling the movements. I am almost 17 weeks and my doctor said I sould start feeling movements soon.

If you haven't passed gas within 15 min of feeling - this swimming sensation--I called it a fluttery butterfly feeling- then it's really the baby.

When my sister was pregnant she felt something moving in her stomach and she said it was her baby moving. But I'm not sure if that's how you feel but you should ask your doctor about it.
