The red spots are temporary ingrown hairs or minor skin irritation. They will heal in a few days. To prevent ingrown hairs and irritations you can use shaving creams or gels, use warm water to soften the skin, and use a new razor blade. Wait until these heal before trying again. I really doubt it's herpes. Use dry skin lotion regularly on areas you've shaved. It will help reduce irritation, itching, and soften the skin and hair follicles. It will reduce the discomfort caused by "stubble" in between shaves, as well.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.

OHHH!!!!, I have shaved the bikini line before I went on holiday NEVER AGAIN ended up with SPOTS on areas I had shaved for the whole holiday, not a good look, the skin is too sensitive, even a new sharp blade seems to cause SPOTS in this delicate area. Think waxing is best option, but do it the week before you are planing to bare your bikini area, as this can also cause SPOTS, but they tend to go after a few days. Better still, dont worry about the wayward pubes, go all continetal, not brazilian !

Well, if you mean only your bikini line, then it's nothing to worry about. Use a newer blade and shaving cream instead of soap, and exfoliate before and after shaving. If you shave everything and you have red bumps, chances are they're ingrown hairs that were pulled, and they'll heal eventually. Don't shave there anymore, or at least for a while...As for herpes...hm. Were you protected??

Its probably a shaving rash, give it a week to settle down before shaving again.

Don't use a cheap razor and don't use cheap shaving cream, use a more expensive one that is made for sensitive skin and contains Aloe Vera.

Best way to shave is:
Have a nice soak in the bath / long shower
Apply plenty of shaving cream and rub it in
Rinse the razor after every stroke to keep it clean
Take your time

How do I know all this, well I'm a body-builder so I have to shave (everything) regularly.

It's probably just ingrown hairs. Those can be quite common (though unsightly) in that area.

If, however, there's a chance you may have herpes, go see a doctor. Don't take our words for it; we don't know your exact situation here. A doctor will be able to tell you whether or not it's something to worry about. Don't fret about seeing the doctor. They're nonjudgmental (or should be), and having a doctor tell you there's nothing wrong will set your mind at ease more than having one of us tell you.

I used to shave in that area before I had kids. when i first started I would get really bad rashes but eventually my skin got used to it.

Now I use Nair for the bikini line. I've only done it once so far and last time I did it my skin did get irritated. i used cocoa butter on the bumps. It helped with the itch and burn. It really does help. Put it on a few times a day.

If you use disposable razors you can't use it more than once in that area. Shaving cream works, but I use a bar of soap with a moisturizer in it. Dove to be exact. Shaving against the natural way your hair lays on your skin can also cause ingrown hairs and razor bumps so try going with the hair. :)
