I know, during hot weather, cotton socks are good for keeping your feet cool and dry if you're wearing breathable shoes; otherwise, it's like wearing wet and smelly sponges in your shoes when jogging or working out. I'm just wondering what other fabrics keeps your feet warm and dry while being physically active in cold weather. Polyester? Nylon? Acrylic? Cashmere?

i would go for either wool or cashmere. i don't feel that nylon and acrylic are very warm. Froze my feet off in NYC a few years ago when it was 10 below zero and only had my acrylic socks on. bought some cashmere ones and they were fine.

Polypropylene socks are great. They're thin enough to wear with normal shoes (boots, running shoes) and they keep your feet warm.
