I have heard a story about the scene back then...
Supposedly, illegal clubs got busted so often that when the police showed up, the musicians would run TO the paddy wagon so that they could get a good seat.
I forget what club was referenced in the story, and when, but it was around the 20-30's.

Do research your homework.. It is your project. Google it. .Yahoo images is another good site. Jazz clubs in that era? Not sure.but in New York, the Blue Note is still #1. Detroit, NY, Chicago, New Orleans, Memphis all had good jazz clubs. I'm sure I left other's out.
