That all depends on how far " ahead" you are.... if you're way up there, you can wait out this downtrend .( Once people settle in to this, markets will recover most if not all of the losses...maybe six weeks, two months)
If you are only slightly ahead..10, 15, or 20% ahead.. then trade out and preserve the gains.
One story : when I first bought into FEMKX ( Fidelity's emerging mkts)..it almost immediately dropped quite a bit....I traded out 75% of what I owned...now , three years later that portion has gained 140%.... Every time I see that 144% gain on the portfolio printout I kick myself.
Suit yourself, but I really don't think there is anything radically wrong with world economies...this plunge was brought on by the usual thing...some politician ( this time in China) making remarks that should be left to economists. It has happened in Canada...and Thailand... and will happen somewhere else, too.
You learn to shake it off...or you figure it's the "Real Thing" and put all your money in gold ( or under the mattress!)
50% is high, no doubt about it...but I had a hard time keeping "foreign" and "energy" holdings under 50% because they MADE so much! If your youngish ( under say 37 ?) take off just a little...if you're " gettin' up there" ( 55+) , yeah, I would get down to 20/25 percent...best of luck.

It depends on what the performance of the Intl funds have been over the past 6, 12 and 24 months. It also depends on what else is in your investment portfolio. And lastly it depends on your age and objectives.
I know that my Intl funds have been performing quite well. i wish I had more.

You bet. 50% is WAY too high a percentage to have in international fund. Depending on your age and risk tolerance, look more at 20-25%.

Right now there are doing well. I would suggest that you ride them until they take a turn down and then dump the ones that are not your favorites.
If the fund is soaring, why jump off until it turns.
