I'm 39 weeks preg, due march 7th. I've been 3 cm dilated for about 2 weeks and 70% thinned out and lost my mucous plug about a week ago.....I've been having contractions for weeks now but nothing regular. This past week, i've noticed that when i walk it feels like i have a UTI. No pain with urination tho. Tonight, I've been having some menstral type cramps, every so often, haven't really been noticing the time b/c im working, but they are coming more often now! I'm feeling them more low where menstral cramps would occur rather than all over belly, but belly is hard all over when i'm having them..... I want this baby out...is it in my head that i'm in the early stages of labor? How often does the water break before actual labor? Has this happened to anyone else and did you end up in the hospital ??? HELP!

Start timing the pains. Also, do they get worse if you walk? Walking can speed up your labor a bit.

Oh, and my water never broke with either of my kids. Both times the doctor broke my water after I got to the hospital.

Lie down on the couch for a few minutes. Keep your eye on the clock. Time how often the pains are coming/going. If they seem to have a regular pattern, it may be time to pack your bag. Do yourself a favor....if you think you are in labor DON"T eat or drink anything AT ALL.........you will puke it up if later if you really are in labor.

Sounds liek early labor to me :) Congratulations! Best way to rule out false labor is to either drinka bunch of water or chaneg your activity level-lie down if youve been walking, or walk aroudn if youve been sitting. Either way most of the teim sill stop Braxton Hicks or change them anyhow.
Water VERy seldom breaks before labor is well in progress.

Yes you are in the early stages of labor!! You don't have much longer to go, but if you want the baby to come now have sex.....that is what my doctor told me...and it worked both times!!

Just go to the hospital, when in doubt. I went several times, when I was pregnant. They were all false alarms! But that's what the nurses are there for. They don't mind checking you out, to see if it's for real!
Congrats

Call your Dr. Your close enought that you could very well be in labor and no, water doesn't always break first. You should get checked out!
