Do any bikers agree that the police are absolutely pathetic when it comes to catching and convicting car drivers who kill and injure motorbikers. 5 years ago me and my boyfriend were knocked off of his bike by a smackhead in a hit and run. I am now unable to work full time and having had several operations will need more. The police knew who it was but said it wasn't worth pursuing because he had already been jailed for something else! Then last year my boyfriend was nearly killed by some d**khead who decided to turn into a farmers field at the last minute as my boyfriend was overtaking him. The officer in charge wasn't even a trained traffic cop and the whole investigation was pathetic. The lad who was driving the car had just finished a 16 month ban for drink driving but the police neglected to mention this and I found it out myself on B4U search. It just seems to me that the police automatically assume that the biker is at fault, anyone agree?

I agree,
April 2005 I was sitting stationary indicating to turn right when a Taxi neglected to see me and proceeded to drive right through me, snapped right femur and broken back thoracic # 5+6, severe bruising and no feeling in lower part of body for weeks. Police on attending accident assumed it had been my fault until driver of taxi admitted his wrong doing, guess what still no apology from Police to this date, have managed to get back to work , hard going though and also back onto a new bike!!
Take care.

Police are the enforces of the law they are not the law per se.

I am a rider 35 years experience, I am not a copper either. Sure I have been razzed by the coppers but you cant blame them for the law.

Lets face it Cops are people too.

In all my years I have been treated fairly much more often than I have been badly.

I am sure if you look behind the cases mentioned you will find that it is the law that has allowed these thing s to happen not the coppers.

I dont agree that police consider the rider always at fault. Lets face it we are a soft target and sure i support my local MRA club , but ultimateley we also have to assume some responsibility for our own safety.

Currently cars have crumple zones and airbags, until God catches up with technology and makes Humans the same, we have to ride smarter and defensively.

Technology has made bikes available to young teens that are capable of 200kph speeds and the machine weighs less than 150kg. What do you expect?

Speed x weight x adreneline pumped teenager x inexperice is a disaster just looking for somewhere to happen.

I have always taken the view that everyother road user is a total diickhead. I decided that after I was side swiped and driven out of my lane and made to crash.

I dont think I got justice either , I got the law , I got insurance and I got another bike. That was thirty odd years ago.

Since then I decided the only person responsible for my safety was me!

I ride daily and I love it, and yes I am still riding like the rest of the worlds drivers are total toe rags....and in most cases i am always right.

I am sure there are many bold riders and there are certainly old riders...but not too many old and bold riders.

I am sorry for all of your loses, ride to stay alive!

I was stopped once by the police the reason was what to them was an unusual reg number (different over here all have man or MN in) i offered him my documents he was polite and when he saw where i was from i went on my way with a word of good luck from him this was in Herts that is about the only problem i have ever had in over 30 years of biking i always wear a day glow jacket white helmet and ride with my headlight on my personal motto see and be seen keep your wits about you on a bike you need to be more alert than a car driver assume all other driver are dangerous

I absolutely have owned Harley's earlier and that i comprehend no longer all HD riders are like that, and positive the tutor exaggerated slightly yet it really is what South Park does. reality is, there are adult men like that on the line, many are on Harley's yet no longer all. we've all considered the guy that speeds up thanks to confusing from each provide as a lot as get interest and/or in simple terms to hearken to the sound of his bike. i'm no longer speaking about the loud pipes save lives element, i'm speaking about adult men that rev their bike to the moon for no reason at the same time as there are not any vehicles even interior sight. easily it truly would not hardship me in any respect, notwithstanding it does many. All that being said Harley riders favor to comprehend that South Park possibilities on actually everyone without discrimination and the very truth they did this tutor in simple terms means that Harley's are a large sufficient area of dad subculture that Matt and Trey committed an entire episode to them. this isn't 60 minutes so why is truly everyone taking it so heavily? it really is an effin' comic strip individuals, lighten the hell up already. And sure, it turned right into a really humorous episode...it you've a humorousness it really is.

I haven't made a study of it, but I do tend to read about bike accidents in my local paper. There is a case currently going on where I think justice is being served.

Some looney tune rammed a biker and his passenger, killing one or both.

He's going down, and they're not even letting him off on the insanity defense, which he is trying to use.

Here in Milwaukee, or perhaps even Wisconsin in general, it seems pretty fair.

Perhaps in your situations...and others I am sure. But, not realy necessarily true. Most officers realize that a biker is already indanger and won't even pull one over for pety stuff. At least that is what my cop friend told me...It is sort of an "unwritten" law.

Well nine years ago I was run over and spent more time in intensive care the the guy that hit me. The Mexican driver was arrested after he fled the scene.Fortunately his plate stuck to me.
He jumped bail and is still free cause no one is looking for him. I'm disabled and unable to work also.

I have not had anything that bad happen to me, but it still seems as if many people still have a preconceived idea about people on a bike..... When I get off mine and take off my lid, I get some funny looks, I am a middle aged short woman. It's funny to see peoples reaction, not funny your situation though. My best wishes go out to you.
