I know almost everyone gives negative reasons about tanning salons because of thier high risks of cancer, rubbery skin in old age, etc... but i'm really, and i mean really white!!!! I can't tan in natural light even if i try!!! lol.. i burn like a lobster and i really don't want to spend all summer attempting to get a tan that will only last for a month or so (not to forget to mention the pain and embarrassment of being red and peeling!!!--- ill spend more time covered up avoiding more sun exposure than exposing my legs in a cute skirt, or my body in a bikini). So I was thinking about going to a tanning salon once every 2 to 4 weeks to get a tan and maintain it. I've tried the spray on tans, the cloths, creams, mousse.. and the only one is the mousse by Clinique and another, but I rather have something more permanant. Does anyone have any POSITIVE advice or suggestions to help me out?? thanks in advance for all of your help.

Well if you dont tan outside then you probably wont tan in a tanning bed either. Or atleast thats just what they say. I tan in a tanning bed so I have nothing against it! But if you do go then make sure you get a good lotion for your skin type & start off going only like 5 minutes or less & every week go up 1 or 2 more minutes. Working your way up to about 10-15 minutes. That way you wont get a sunburn right off the bat & that way you will have a good base tan! I hope this helps! Good Luck :)

I go to the tanning bed 3x's a week until I get a base tan, then I go maybe once a week. Right now I go to the regular tanning bed and twice a month I hit the Stand up. They have different UV's and this keeps everything even and keeps me from burning in the sun. Once I cut down on my regular bed visit I will do the same with the Stand up. Also it is very important to use a good tanning lotion that you buy from a salon. I used to use the cheap stuff and once I started using the better lotion I really noticed a difference. happy tanning!

Tanning salons are not real dangerous if you do it smart. Start out going 2-3 times a week and lay 5-8 minutes at the most. Gradually you will increase your time and be able to lay up to 15 min. Then when you have the tan you desire you can cut back on the visits or the minutes. But you also need good tanning lotion. Good Luck and I hope everything works out. I work at a tanning salon and LOTS of people come. Thanks
