Well, having a REAL accent is cool, but it doesn't necessarily make you sound smarter. Using big words makes you sound smart if you use them correctly, but if you don't know how to use them, or if you try to fake an accent, then you'll sound like you're not so bright.

you don't need an accent, but use big words. I do that all the time. Just don't get caught by a real smart person who might know what the words mean

There was actually a study done that took people of equal intelligence and gauged other people's perceptions of their IQ. People with a British accent were perceived as smarter than those with a Souther accent.

accents are intriguing...like if someone has one, I am more apt to listen. Otherwise, you better be saying something that peaks my interest. I just like hearing people with accents talk. anything they say sounds good to me.
