Yes the US is overboard. We are too worried about hurting everyone's feelings. We are losing our freedom of speech slowly. What is next? cavemen?

Depends on the context.
For example, if you were say running for political office, it might be a no no.
A kid in high school? Few people will care. At work? If somebody there is gay, a bit dicey.

No - if we keep on "banning" what people can say, pretty soon the only thing we can discuss with each other will be the weather. Unless, of course, people start getting offended because they're scared of thunderstorms *rolls eyes*.

its just slang...yes, its offensive but the real problem is the fact that slang means different things to different people. you should think about what you really mean and say what you mean. all slang and curse words are ways of communicating within a small social group and is also a sign of just not knowing what to say.

if you say that is so gay aren't you trying to say that is so terrible or bad or horrible? So aren't you just saying being gay is that too? I am not gay but wouldn't refer to something bad as gay simply because those whom are gay might become offended...

I prefer, "That is so like someone who enjoys taking it in the buttocks."
That way you are not just singling out those who are gay, but are also including normal heterosexuals who also happen to enjoy butt sex.

i no, its dum, but no saying that is so gay is so not wrong, i say it all the time and i havent heard anything about it, unless you say it like disrespectfully, than no.

Yes, it IS wrong. I HATE it when people say, "OMG, that is sooooooooo gay". Like anything that has to do with gay people is wrong! It just makes me want to scream, "Well what you said was just sooooooooooo STRAIGHT."!
