Are humans REALLY intelligent? We speak, do math, build things, ETC. Machines do the same thing. The ability to do those things is no proof of intelligence.
We aren't as perfect as we think. We suffer more diseases than any other species, we're the only speicies to wage war on eachother based on greed or race, the list goes on and on.
Just thought I'd rattle some cages.

I agree, and honestly, I don't understand how almost anything really works, phones, coke machines, etc., I suspect our predeliction for killing each other etc. is part of why extraterrestrials haven't contacted us yet...

Can any animal on the planet build a computer coming out the woods, develope an operating system. Design the internet create a yahoo account and have the smarts to think of a question like that? Humanity is miracle, I dont believe thier is any explanation for it. Life is an enigma. Although we tend to commit evil and desctruction we are an amazing species with a limitless potential. Humans are (generally) intelligent compared to what we can see. We do, however, have a massively overblown sense of our own importance.
Many animals fight over territory, mating, etc. We're very much like our extended evolutionary family in that respect. Humans just do it on a larger scale, because they can. If lions had machine guns and tanks, the Serengheti would be a battlefield.
Chances are, E.T. is sat on a planet somewhere thinking 'my god, those humans are dumb'. But in our world, and with what we know, we're the most intelligent, and the most stupid, species on the planet.

I think that you're confusing intelligence with sensible. Humans create the machines that do those things you mentioned. Humans create the most of the diseases that we suffer from. Humans are truly intelligent, however some do not use it wisely.

Machines were built by who? Humans are made up of more than the mind...haven't you ever gone against something you know is right, because you're heart told you maybe you could be wrong? Desire also influences ones actions & reactions, but that doesn't mean no one, or you are not intelligent.
