Snails are no problem at all. As for fish you could add 3-4 small fish to the tank, but certainly not a goldfish. Neons, glolights, small cory catfish all would be good choice. Jut 3-4 total, don't crowd the tank.

A 3 gallon tank is too small for anything else to be in with your betta. You ahve to figure that if you have gravel, a plant, a filter or any decorations in there, they are also taking up space so there is far less than 3 gallons in there (and most of us don't fill our tanks right up to the brim). A betta is a tropical fish that needs to be kept at about 80 degrees F to stay health; a goldfish is a cold water fish that do best at temps below 75 (they'll get sick if kept at too high a temp). All of my bettas have always killed snails. So I'd say for your small 3g. tank, only the betta should be kept in there. If you get a much bigger tank, then you can probably add some other fish and lots of plants.

It's not a good idea to add a goldfish as they aren't compatible. Snails generally work out well. Females really need to be kept 1 per 5-10 gallon with at least 3 females. A platy, or molly might work, but your tank is a bit small.
Why no goldfish:
1)Betta are warm water tropical fish. The need 75-85F temps. Lower temps result in lethargy, disease and early death. Goldfish are cold water carp types. They need temp below 73F, and ideally in the 65-68F range. Temps above 72 will result in oxygen deprivation, illness, and early death.
2)Betta tank mates should be fast swimmers, and not have showy fins. This pretty much rules out most gold fish. Aggression varies from betta to betta. Some betta will rip a fan tail fin from fin even if they are larger.

A goldfish wouldn't work very good. It gets way too big for a 3 gallon tank. Try some small fish like a platy or guppy. About the snails....it depends on how big the snails would get. If you want a snail, stick with only one. Hope this helps :)

a snail maybe, depends what kind of snail. apple snail may be a little too large, a zebra (spixi) apple snail may work. avoid plague snails like ramshorns and pond snails. remember snails need feeding, and constantly poop, so you'll really have to keep up with the cleaning.
another fish, no, the tank is too small, MUCH too small for a goldfish. bettas and goldfish don't mix anyway.

You can put whatever you want except a MALE or female betta, i did male and female once....they got along for about a day...ha ha. Betta's only fight with Betta's. DONT PUT WITH GOLDFish. I did that and the goldfish was always biting at the betta to the point he almost died. Betta's need to be with NON AGRESSIVE tropical fish.

Most Betas prefer to live 'totally alone' because they are 'fighting fish' and could attack any other 'fish' you put in with them, regardless of the fishes 'breed' ... but you should be able to put a few snails in ... they'll help keep the tank clean, and provide some 'visual change' ... but you should also have some nice 'plants' in the tank, and that may be all the 'visual change' you really need.

does you tank have a filter and heater? if so then ONE snail would be fine. mystery or apple snails, any other will take over you tank.
if you want other fish in with her you're going to need at least a 10gallon tank. then you can add female bettas as long as you add at least 3, or cory cats, or tetras, or most tropical fish that aren't aggressive.
no goldfish though, they need completely different water conditions. bettas need warm tropical water, goldfish are cold water fish, goldfish produce tons of ammonia that will kill bettas. plus, goldfish need at least 20gallons to themselves when full grown.

Don't put beta fish in with equal or small size fishes, especially the males. They're very, very, very territorial. They'll tear everyone and everybody apart if you know what I mean even snails.
I used to try to have a collection of them, but this fishes only live for so many seasons. You can try to breed them, but what I found out was that the male ones tend to eat there females up, for food. That's how territorial they are. However, if you're good at what you're doing it's possible to have tons of beta fishes. However, the other propblem is that the female betas also eat their young ones too. That's how territorial they are. Good enough, yes?

Snails are fine, and despite what the others say, I have a goldfish in a 2.5 gallon tank with my female betta and they do fine together.
