It's all I ever wanted to be, really... more than any career. When I meet the right woman I want to have a family with her. I want to be the one who stays home with the kids and raises and nurtures them.
I told this to one of my friends, and she was like "that's crazy! You come first. Women are just as capable as men in the workplace."

But she's missing the point. I never said they aren't--as a woman, of course I agree that we're just as capable of men! But being a mom appeals to me more than a high-powered career.

And yes, I am a lesbian, and anyone who thinks lesbians shouldn't have and raise kids can **** off!

It seems like a lot of women look down on women who are stay at home mothers, and I don't understand. A couple of my lesbian friends look their noses down at the idea of being a mom. I'm sure it's the most rewarding, satisfying thing you can do in your life, and I'm gonna do it!

I totally support you %100! I've always wanted to be a stay at home dad... I want to dive the minivan, and take the kids to soccer, karate, and ballet! Making snacks, playing games with the kids, cleaning... cooking... all that! I love it!

You are first and foremost a MOTHER. No other job on this earth is, or will ever be, as important as that job right there. There are millions of selfish and simple minded people in this community and I strongly advise you to ignore them. Their opinions mean nothing. You have the toughest job GOD ever created, the job of being a MOM! This means endless hours of negotiating small children into bathtubs, fixing boo-boo's and broken hearts, repairing clothes and doing countless hours of laundry etc... As a Mother, you are also the following: 1) Hostage Negotiator-Because your always negotiating some toy or body part away from 1 of them! 2) Nurse-How many wounds have you had to fix up and how many fevers have you diagnosed? 3) Veterinarian-Because there is always a pet or a stray that needs medical attention! 4) Financial Advisor-Because you dictate when the kids get their allowance & how not to spend it. 5) Accountant-Because you have to budget an entire household. 6) Teacher-Because you are your children's first and most important teacher! 7) Police Officer-Because you are always enforcing the laws of the house! 8) Janitor-Because there is ALWAYS a mess to clean! 9) Construction Worker-How many block castles have you helped build? 10) Handy Man-How many nails have you pounded to hang a picture? 11) Barber/ Hairdresser-How many times have you brushed a child's hair? 12) Judge-Because someone must decide who had the toy first! 13) Host-You are always playing host to your family and children's friends. 14) Servant-Because kids do not seem to grasp the concept of serving themselves! 15) Intern-Because you are always learning something new! And you don't earn a pay check. You get payed in hugs, kisses, tears and disappointments. Don't ever let some a$$hole make you feel like you are anything less than amazing. Imagine, for a moment, how they would fair if the situation were reversed. Its quite funny isn't it? Yeah, I know you think so too! Good girl!!

The point of feminism was that women have equal opportunities to choose what kind of life they want. If you are choosing to be a stay-at-home mom, you should go for it! It's difficult to live nowadays on one income, but as long as the woman in your life is capable and happy being the sole financial support for the family, it can be a great thing to do. Choose your own life, and don't let anyone make you feel bad for it.

Nope nothing wrong with being a stay at home mom.

I do think that all parents should be able to provide for their child, and themselves of course, in the event that the bread-winning partner should die or if the relationship just breaks up at some point.

The longer you stay out of the job market, the harder it is to break back into the job market.

But nowadays there are many work from home opportunities.

To each her own I guess. Ya just have to find that right woman that wants to be the one to "bring home the bacon" I guess. There is something appealing about the whole one wife works while the other wife raises the kids at their home in the suburbs. Guess that's just 'cause of how I was raised...

When the time comes, if you and your partner can afford to, I say go for being a stay at home mom. There's nothing wrong with it and nothing to be ashamed of.

no one is looking down on Stay At Home Moms...if you can afford to do it, your children's chances of not getting into trouble are greatly enhanced, but nothing is for sure. I just hope you don't get bored to death. Good luck
