The Wave is an incredible example- about a classroom experiment about Nazis gone very wrong. Also Swing Kids for some lighter fare and Cabaret for an artsy musical take on Nazis.

I was going to suggest American History X until I saw what you had written......a great movie that deals with this subject but from a different point of view and time is 'Sophie's Choice' with Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline. Another wonderful movie 'Life is Beautiful', written,directed and starring Roberto Benigni. It is in Italian with sub-titles but so well worth the effort!!

I find it interesting, too. You mean in which Nazis play the leading roles or something like "Private Ryan" in which they are only ancillary to the action? I can't think of any in which they are the subject off the top of my head, but I bet I won't be able to stop thinking about it because I know they're out there. I'll add them if I think of any.

One not mentioned yet, a great movie, is "Swing Kids" it deals with teenage kids in Germany dealing with both war and trying to have romance and fun - by swing dancing. But all are affected in different ways by the war. It is incredibly dramatic, moving and entertaining - Check It Out!

Triumph of the Will if you want pure history. It's an actual recording of a Party celebration. Pure propaganda on their part though.

Hart's War. Not a super great movie but still good.

Apt Pupil was pretty good, no Nazi's running around, just a a kid infatuated with his neighbor who used to be a Nazi, the kid blackmails the old Nazi.
Ian McKellan and Brad Renfro star I think.
