Think about what it is that scares you. If it is the thunder (that is what it was with me as a kid) I would just have to tell myself that the thunder can't get me. I know it sounds silly, but it is what helped me.
If it is the lighting, go inside when there is a storm and stay off the phone (I am not sure why, but that is what they say) OR you could get in a car when it starts to lighting... the rubber tires make it super unlikely for lightning to hit a car.

It is not the thunder to be scared of. If u hear the thunder it missed u. Get inside and don't touch metal things. if u are outside don't touch metal things like doors ,hand rails, or close lines or fence. If u hear the thunder it missed u.

I use to be so scared of thunder storms but now i love them. You have to really think about it and figure out what it is about the storm that scares you. Then what ever that reason is, ask your self if its really a big deal. just try to calm your self down and find reasons why you souldnt be scared of them. Next time it storms, look at the window and just relax. I now find storms to be amazing. I use to be so scared i would have to go in my parents room, but now i go outside and i love to watch them.

Girl, I feel your pain. I was very scared of thunderstorms when I was younger. Then I went through an Earthquake phase too. (Lived in Monterey County)
We don't get Thunderstorms as bad here in Sacramento CA as other states but sometimes they can be so fricken loud it shakes the house. Other than taking a xanax I guess just putting your headphones on and riding it out.
Good Luck

just realize they are nothing more than natural processes that occur when a link is made between the charge in the air and the ground, the lightning is the visible electricity that travels that link. and the thunder is the shockwave of quickly expanding air due to its rapid heating.
plus, so long as you are in a car, indoors, and away from trees, you should be fine.
