I wanna use the background music, not the song, and i was wondering if there is such a program that will let you take the vocals out of the song... any ideas?

Yeah, I use a program called NERO WAV editor (just because it's included with my cd burning software, i'm sure there are more out there)

and then just play with it. (i think there is a menu option for vocals)

most of the time i can get it where the lead vocals are just a hollow echo. if the chorus is high pitched though it won't take those out and you might have to fiddle around some more. if you are just editing from a retail cd, it's really hard to get it all the way out, but you should be able to make it where when you are singing that will be the only thing that is noticable.. good luck!

I don't think that's possible, but a good idea would be to search for the same song with the word "instrumental" after the song.

well you could take it to a studio and put it on a program that you can adjust the background music or vocals.
