If we're talking about the timelessness of good, classic music, I think the winner might be Imagine by John Lennon, though all the ones you mentioned are also good. I chose Imagine because of it's meaning.

I do like some music from the past 20 years I have to say, it's not all bad! I like Arms Race by Fallout Boy and Grace Kelly by Mika, I'm sure they'll be classics in a few years...they are not my favourite tunes mind! But saying that my favourite song ever is unchained melody by the righteous brothers, not Gareth Gates, good lord that was bad. I also like tracks of my tears by Smokey Robbinson and My Love by The Beatles.

You've got me there.

As far as recognizability goes, I think that Beethoven's Fifth tops the list. Who hasn't heard the first four notes from that? Certainly not my favorite song, but recognizable.

I like Nobody Home and Pillow of Winds by Pink Floyd.

I like your list!! You've got to include something by Fleetwood Mac..Maybe Gypsy or Go Your Own Way?? Oh and Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond should be on the list too...If it's not too weird, you could include Michael Jackson Thriller or Billie Jean..still think that was longer than 20 yrs ago though..lol...

No, it aint coz you're old, you've just got good taste in music....music has changed now...it aint music anymore, its more to do with image and technical manipulation.

"My Way" by Frank Sinatra, love the eagles, saw them at Huddersfield, was a long drive. Elvis done it good as well, don't know about Sid Vicious' attempt, but I think as you see the years go by, it tells so much.
