Which order does the ribbon go, regarding...?

...the set up of 2 CD-ROM drives (actually, one CD, one DVD). Does the ribbon go from the motherboard, to the slave, and then to the master last? What about those jumpers? My DVD-ROM isn't working at all. I thought this would be easy, but now I am stuck. Any suggestions??

Motherboard to master then to slave. The master drive should be set as master on the jumper and the slave should be set as slave on the jumper. Also make sure all your power cables are plugged in all the way. Sounds stupid but has happened to me.
