I think both are good but Goodfellas was just really full on gangster. Especially Joe Pesci when he beats up Billy Batts. Godfather was the silent and slow type but gave better meaning.

I think The Godfather, is how it was older days, traditional and crooked still, it was a classic and I like that better than Goodfellas, and it truly showed how the "real" crime families were, Goodfellas was like present day mafia, but still was just as great of a movie, Joe Pesci is the man, most of the guys were hoodlums and street punks

The Godfather is easily a superior gangster movie. Don't get me wrong, Goodfellas is wonderful too, but Godfather is well, the Godfather of the gangster movie genre. The acting is brilliant! You have Marlon Brando, James Caan, Diane Keaton, and Al Pacino. I mean, come one, Al Pacino! It isn't just the acting though. The story is what really drives The Godfather. It's Mario Puzo's story adapted to the big screen. I love both movies, but Godfather is just a notch above the rest in most aspects. Oh and don't forget the music. You know that when you hear that lonesome violen play the thrill comes back to you.

Good question.I think Goodfellas was a better gangster film but The Godfather was no slouch in the direction or acting department.Goodfellas just nailed the gritty lives of these characters.

"The Godfather" was a great film about La Cosa Nostra, the mafia.
Now, if you're talking about a straight up gangster film, "Goodfellas" is THE movie.

Godfather is a good oldschool mob movie but Goodfellas is the better gangster movie, it gets down and dirty and shows it all.
