>Lucky you! It seems to me that a drug test result is a Medical Record. If you are in the USA your medical records are protected under HIPPA...anyone who does not have permission to divulge your records is in violation of the law. The penalties are really stiff (huge fines) and it is actually enforced. Check this out with a lawyer and follow his, or her, advice.<

If you're in a union of any kind, you need to tell the union manager. Since you are asking this, I'm assuming the test was positive...? If there's somebody who's following you for drug treatment, I'd let them know. Depending on how this works out, you may or may not want to press charges for breach of confidentiality. I don't know how far you'll get with that, though....if you actually do have a long drug history, it seems like people won't necessarily be as quick to defend you as they would if you didn't.

go to your Human Resources with it. There must be some policy in place and if so it's a policy and procedures violation. if you get fired before you get through the process don't give up. you still have the right to request an investigation. but if your drug test was positive there's nothing you can do about the consequences of that. only the policy violation on the part of your boss.

If you are in the USA contact your state's Attorney General's office, the EEOC and any other worker rights group in your area.
Also, just because I am nefarious; hire a private detective to find out about all the skeletons the bastard has and then post them/with all the evidence on the lunch room notice board and CC to the company CEO.

That sounds to me like a potential lawsuit for invasion of privacy. I'm not a lawyer, but from my own reading I would think this is a possible crime, or at least a civil action. That's assuming, of course, that you don't want to continue working with him/her. I'm also assuming that the drug test was positive, because it doesn't hurt someone's reputation much to tell everyone he is clean.

Did the test results come back positive? Are you embarrassed they know? Tell his boss. If he is the boss, you may consider whether or not you wish to remain in his employ.

Do you have proof of this? Can you get other employees to be your witnesses to your boss telling other employees? If so, contact an attorney ASAP. This is called slander.

Quit using drugs if you're so ashamed of yourself--as you should be. Besides, when fellow employees see that you're being punished they need to know why so they can avoid doing what caused the punishment.

I'm unsure of what sort of laws have to do with this, although ethically speaking, it is completely wrong. The test results should be shared between you and your employer only.

That's an HR issue. File a complaint with your Human Resources dept immediately. That information is confidential, and he should not have shared it with anyone else. If you do not have an HR dept, go to whoever is above him, and report it.
